CHALLENGE:

Encourage participation and co-creation while engaging millions of people to participate in an important cause.

ACTION:

Designed and launched a competition site to give a select group the opportunity to share their unique perspective and visions in film. The site was created using a content management system that allowed filmmaker content to be neatly threaded together by film, votes, comments, personal profiles, blogs, social profiles, embed tools, forward to a friend sharing tools as well as content pages about the sponsors. A content distribution network was implemented to support on-demand high-quality 700 dpi flash video player. A Flash/Flex-based widget was developed with a customized database that allowed the widget to live on multiple platforms and social networks.

Major partners were recruited to expand visibility via site badges and email marketing communications as well as a creating fan pages on social network sites, blog posts published by the client, bookmarking of content links and outreach to top film reviewers in numerous categories to support pass along and viewing.

Voting tools were employed to select finalist pool. The voting tool included capcha (security window) with IP by browser vote tracking.


RESULTS:

- Votes cast for the films during the first 24 hours exceeded expectations.

- The campaign helped drive brand engagement and measured actions

- Pre and post research revealed that the films were highly impactful
